Production/Editing
The schedule for the week is:
-Saturday through Monday: Creative Challenge
-Tuesday through Thursday: Dream Match
-Friday: Dream Match reviews & elimination live
Schedule for live show:
-30-40 minutes on opening/Creative Challenge/Reviews/Aftermath
-15-25 minutes of Dream Match creation/Reviews live
-9:05: Voting open to public
-20 minutes on general things happening in house/special segments and presentations of Disney history on the attractions or areas focused on in the week's challenges/segments on the contestant's families back home
-9:25: Voting closes; live elimination.
At each challenge, contestants ride in a private car to the destination. Where the location is where they will greet the judges and they will give them a challenge varies. For example, if it is a water park challenge, they may meet them at Blizzard Beach, at an interesting spot with Summit Plummet in view.
When they can, they will try to have these meetings before or after park hours to avoid crowds/people shouting info from the outside public.
Presentations and Creative Challenge reviews will be in a "Board Room" style room built into the second Golden Oaks house.
The live show takes place at Hyperion Theater in DHS, with a complete re-theme from Frozen, and the return of the voting armchairs for the audience members to vote. There is only a certain number of seats available, and this will be very popular, so the only way to guarantee your spot in the theater is to get in line early enough. Lines open at 5:30 EST, entry into the theater starts at 7:15 EST, and the show begins at 8 EST.
The following is a layout of the challenges. They are specifically designed to allow for special segments on Disney history on them, as well as one other thing that makes them different from out WDWMagic comps. Often you will find that we have challenges about refurbishing a poor attraction, replacing something not generally liked by the public, or flat out fixing a big problem. There won't be any of these challenges. Not because they aren't good challenges, but because this is a TV show, and Disney of course would want to make sure they have a good image after all is said and done and they come across as the ultimate place to vacation that can only get better!
Season 1 Outline:
-Final 12: Creative Challenge is to design a new building on Main Street USA. It can replace an existing one or be an addition somehow, but you can make only one building. What it hosts is entirely up to the teams.
Dream Match has the final three re-invent Main Street entertainment, from a lively morning greeting to a fun cap off to the day, and everything in the middle. It can be any type of streetmosphere, but make it exciting and something America would like!
-Episode 1/Final 11: Creative Challenge tasks players to create a new attraction for Typhoon Lagoon. Make it innovative and really push this park into number one with this!
Dream Match goes over to Blizzard Beach, where the three players are asked to design a new dining experience for this park.
-Episode 2/Final 10: Creative Challenge is in the Magic Kingdom again, where teams must design a brand new ride in Tomorrowland on that plot. All else is up to them!
Dream Match asks players to design a hypothetical extension of the monorail with a very limited budget. They may make any changes/upgrades to the monorails and stations themselves too if they wish, but that will still all be a part of the same budget.
-Episode 3/Final 9: Players go the DHS for the Creative Challenge, where they must design a brand new stage show to go in the Theater of the Stars. It can be based off of a character, multiple characters, franchises, or something original.
The three competing in the Dream Match must add a new ride to Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, or Echo Lake. It must be an original (as in no IP) concept.
-Episode 4/Final 8: Teams head to DAK to compete in a Creative Challenge, where the goal is to create and expansion to Asia. They may either expand the towns of Anandapour/Maharaja, or create a new village. This is expansion is to be like the Haramabe Marketplace- Not full of rides and shows, but some shops, food service, and an overall area to add to the story and help round out the park.
The Dream Match will stay in DAK, as the three players must design a new boat ride that travels on Discovery River, and tells a story unlike the Discovery River canal.
-Episode 5/Final 7: This challenge is to design a brand new resort hotel. It must be a deluxe hotel that is deeply themed, and the presentation must cover the lobby, rooms, recreation, and other amenities.
The Dream Match continues the resort theme. They must create a new table service restaurant for the Boardwalk. It should be high quality, and something that really fits the theme.
-Episode 6/Final 6: For the Creative Challenge, players will go to Epcot, where they must create a new series of Innoventions exhibits in the Innoventions West building that is closed. Make it unique, incredible, and fit the Epcot spirit!
The losing team will compete in the Dream Match, and have a big challenge on their hands- to design a brand new pavilion single-handedly. It can go in either Future World West or East as long as it fits. You don't have to go is as much detail, but make it amazing so America keeps you!
-Episode 7/Final 5: Once again in Epcot, this Creative Challenge has contestants design a brand new country addition to the World Showcase. It must include one attraction, and make sure to keep it realistic.
The way this Dream Match works is a bit differently because there are so little players left. The judges choose only one winner, and that person chooses one other to be safe. The other three are the ones that will compete for their lives. For the challenge, they must do deep research and studying of culture, as they must create an authentic streetmosphere performance in one of the WS countries.
-Episode 8/Final 4: The Creative Challenge has Teams go to Disney Springs, where they must design a mini-marketplace type area. It must include at least 3 merchandise and 3 food service locations, and they must have something in common, a general theme, that makes it a sub-area (Though, not at all like in the parks, they are completely different stores/restaurants).
The losing team will compete in the Dream Match, which will make them create a unique experience for Disney Springs. Not a shop or restaurant, but something interesting and fun, such as Cirque du Soleil or Characters in Flight. Who gets eliminated will be decided 50% by America and 50% by the judges.
-Episode 9(Finale)/Final 3 &2: For the finale, the system is a bit different. There is only one challenge for each round, so no Creative Challenge, only Dream Matches.
The first Dream Match (Final 3) takes place in classic Fantasyland. Players must design a new dark ride, and it may not replace any current attractions. So, they must be very strategic about their placement and how they incorporate it into the land. This will be a pre-recorded elimination, so it will be decided by the judges.
The second challenge is the final one of the season. The two finalists will each get Imagineers to help and advise them as they make this final project, as it is the most important of the season- the winning one gets created. What are they doing? Well, something that many of us are very excited for- They are helping the future of DHS, as they are designing a brand new land, based on a Pixar franchise, to go into the park over where LMA/Catastrophe Canyon is! The winner will not be determined by America, but it will still be live as a round table of Imagineers and Board members discuss and come to a decision about which to greenlight, and which contestant wins the show to become the newest member of WDI!
